Howdy!
Today I’m excited to help out author friend, Kendra Ardnek, with the blog tour for her new release Water Princess, Fire Prince! I’m in the process of reading it right now (and yes, Kendra, I will have it finished in time for my review on Friday!) and enjoying it!
Right now, Kendra has graciously allowed me to commandeer one of her characters for an interview! Jakob of Upper Klarand will be joining us after I tell you a little about the book.
When the Lady Dragon does come,
Hold fast, do not fear, do not run.
Your Water Princess will fight,
Fire Prince will set all to right.
Each shall come from a Fall,
Their union will save you all.
Despite the fact that she’s on track for competing in the Olympics, and he’s practically raised his younger brothers since they lost their mom in a car accident, Clara Mandras and Andrew Stevenson are pretty much normal teens. They have normal hopes, normal dreams, and they live in a normal world.
All this is torn away from them when they are thrust into another world and declared Water Princess and Fire Prince. With no experience ruling a country, meeting each other for the first time, and being expected to fight the Lady Dragon – an evil sorceress plaguing the world of Rizkaland – Clara and Andrew are underprepared and inexperienced. Unless they learn to work together despite their standing opposition, Rizkaland’s hope will be lost.
What is to come will change their lives forever.

OK, Jakob’s here! Let’s get this interview started!
Welcome, Jakob! I’m so happy to have you here. To start off I’ll ask you a little about yourself. You’re prince of Upper Klarand. What does a day in your life look like?
The correct term is Lor’Son, because I’m the son of a lord, not a king.
A typical day, however, mostly involves studies and the handling of minor disputes that my father thinks I can handle. Someday I shall be the Lord, and I intend to be the best Lord I can be.
A responsibility I’m afraid I don’t envy you. First impressions are important. What did you think the first time you saw the Water Princess?
I thought she was smaller than we expected, but then, when she began to speak, the smallness melted away, and I knew that she’d be a force for the Dragon to reckon with.
In reading the story, I’m getting that overwhelming impression myself. I occasionally get complaints and/or reproachful looks from my characters. Have you and your book buddies ever launched a formal complaint against your author?
Well, I didn’t participate, as I personally don’t mind her antics too terribly – I’m thankful to be in a book at all. However, there was one time that the Water Princess, the Tela Du, and a few other characters kidnapped Kendra and stripped her author powers and abandoned her on an island. I was part of the rescue attempt.
Quite noble of you. I’m sure she appreciated that. What is one place is all of Rizkaland that you want to visit and why?
I should like to see Loray – peruse the Bookholder’s library, and stand on Alphego’s Hill.
Could you take me to the library? 🙂 Which fellow character would you want to spend the day with?
Kendra says that I can’t mention her by name because of spoilers, but my love interest. We’ve been avoiding each other for several years now, and I’d like to actually speak with her.
I’ll refrain from “awwww-ing”. Can’t wait to meet her! Rizkaland has some important books and legends. What is one of your favorites?
Through the Mountain. It’s the story of a time very similar to our own, a story of Alphego’s triumph against the Dragon, a reminder that, even though things seem dark now, it’s only so that His light shall only shine the brighter.
A wonderful story! OK, last question. If you had a chance to leave Rizkaland and go to a different world, would you take it?
Of course. It’s an honor to be allowed to see another world. Actually, Kendra and I did visit Narnia a few months back. That was interesting.
I’m sure it was. Although I am a bit jealous. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by, Jakob!
Thank you for having me!
*Jakob is recalled and I hope my questions were suitable for a Lor’Son.*
Okey dokey, that was fun! Characters always have such interesting things to say. If you’re interested in the book, make sure to check out the rest of the blog tour schedule for more interviews, reviews, and fun posts! Kendra is also hosting a giveaway on her blog!
Last but not least, the author is offering deals on some of her other books right now! I’d make sure to check them out!

Thank you for having him over!
That trip to Narnia that he and I made was a character encounter – last October’s, I believe.

*goes to check out that post*
What about the event Jakob mentioned in the third answer- the Water Princess, the Tela Du, and others stranding you on an island? Is that in a blog post as well? (Also, was Andrew part of the rescue or the kidnapping?)

No, that was a roleplay that I was in back during my NaNo forum days. I actually don’t remember the rescue – I was unconscious at the time (in other words, the RP kinda fizzled out and was forgotten) – so I don’t know if Andrew was part of the rescue or not.

Alas, it doesn’t even exist anymore, thanks to the NaNo Wipe of … ’12 I believe. It wasn’t that spectacular, though. Mostly just Clara and Petra yelling at me for ruining my life.

They were yelling at you for ruining your own life? I think that’s your problem. JK, I know what you mean. And even if it wasn’t spectacular, I would’ve liked reading it.

I mean their lives. For ruining their lives. It was insane.

Heh. I guessed that. Character-author interactions almost always are. (I should know; I wrote an entire book based around them.)

Really? That sounds fascinating. (I was about to write a little thing of that kind.)

Thank you! The premise was “What if there was a stoyrworld where the characters knew they were in a story?”, and I just went from there. It was really fun to write; I can’t wait to go through and edit it so I can read it again. 😀
