When Life Hands You Plums

Howdy!

I know it’s only been two weeks since I posted last, but I feel like it’s been a lot longer. Also life has been crazy, so that’s why I went with plums instead of lemons, because it hasn’t actually been bad, I’ve just been a permanently exhausted pigeon with too many things to do and so little time.

Basically since Thanksgiving I’ve been running around like crazy. Having fun, for sure, but my introvert has begun to show and I am rejoicing this week, for I have pretty much every evening ALL TO MYSELF! I mean, I love people, but I also have been neglecting many fictional people that aren’t terribly happy with me.

Last night I wrapped up the first round of edits on Adela’s Curse. But wait. Yes, it already is published. But before I moved it over to my imprint name, I decided to have it professionally looked at to make it more sparkly and clean, and I’m really pleased with how everything is turning out. I added almost 2000 words and I’m not sure that was supposed to happen. lol! I’m also planning on re-doing the cover. More on that at a later date.

I started working on a new project which I should not have started, but I was in a terrible writing slump and it came along with shiny new characters and giant wolves and half brothers and other cool things. So, yes, Greywolf’s Heart is a thing. And it was supposed to be short, but I’m already at 10K and haven’t gotten anywhere close to the scenes I’ve already scribbled down. But I love my peeps.

It’s basically Native Americans meet Vikings and the result rides giant wolves in an environment similar to Yellowstone.

And this happened the other day. It might totally happen.

Also, I’m now on Pinterest (after swearing I never would…) So you can go check out the board for it. 🙂

The Mountain Baron is also coming along. I recently passed 75K on it. I had gotten stuck, but after backtracking, again, and cutting several thousand words, everyone is cooperating again. Which is lovely, since Rhys is a giant pain in my butt.

Also, sad news. So I was working through edits on The Wolf Prince, and realized that after getting everything done, I was going to want a line edit on it. So I contacted my editor and her next opening is not until next spring since I delayed starting on edits and deciding on another edit. So, The Wolf Prince will not be releasing until next year sometime. Which is kind of ok with me after The Great Republishing Burnout of September 2017. Also, it gives me more time to figure out adult-y decisions with writing and such.

So sorry if anyone was just dying to read this book. It will come. I promise. Also it gives me extra time to actually plot and start working on Book 3. 🙂 But there’s always the Adela’s Curse re-release to look forward to.

Also, on that note – whenever that happens, and you decide that you’d like to read the new version and already have a first edition, then I’ll prolly be posting something about how you can get a new copy from me. Just as a heads up in case you are like “what the heck, Claire, just stop with all the edits and actually finish a dang story.” In which case, you’d sound mysteriously like my consciousness.

Other things – work is going really well. I continually confuse people when I say “my kids” as I am obviously not married and have no children. But I love all my patients/kiddos and am pretty sure I have the best job in the world.

I am taking a few days off around Christmas to go see family and am soo looking forward to it. My brain still hasn’t quite come to terms with the fact that I have officially moved out and am living on my own. I’m still a bit on the school/clinical schedule and just waiting to move back home after a few months in one place. lol!

One big thing on the agenda is to figure out my writing plans for 2018. I need to finish The Mountain Baron and Greywolf’s Heart and then I’m actually going to let myself start a new project. One that hopefully won’t take me 4 years to finish! If it’s done in time, and I can actually go, I might even pitch it at Realm Makers. It’s a modern fantasy inspired by Mad Max: Fury Road. With less explosions. Probably.

I will not say more than that. But I’m excited about it.

Also! I have no Christmas decorations, and am debating on whether I should go find some in the next two weeks. So what are some of your favorite Christmas decorations to help me get inspired to decorate my apartment?

  1. Ooooh! You so had me with this: “It’s basically Native Americans meet Vikings and the result rides giant wolves in an environment similar to Yellowstone.” <— This sounds EPIC!! Can't wait to hear more!

Also, are you going to RM next year?? I'M GOING AND WOULD LOVE TO MEET YOU!!! 😀 😀 😀 *clears throat* Sorry to yell at you there. Just excited. 😉

To be honest, I have no idea about decorations. Maybe garland? It's flashy and reflects off light, making it look really pretty. 🙂

Hope you have a great Christmas, friend! 😀

    • Thanks!! 😀 I’m looking forward to getting to share it with people. I love it so far. 🙂

YES! THAT WOULD BE SO COOL TO MEET YOU!! 🙂 I’m definitely planning on it. I went this year and had a blast, and I’m so ready to go again!

Garlands are a good idea. I’ve thought about getting some for my mantel. 🙂

Same to you!!! Merry Christmas! ❤

  2. Okay, so when I saw the post heading, I was like “Plums? Bucky?” Seriously, just give the guy some plums already. XD

I don’t decorate…so I’m not the best to give decorating advice. Just throw some tree branches on the floor and claim it’s festive, lol.

But seriously, you are writing so many books and I love it!!!

    • Haha! I totally didn’t even think about Bucky when I typed plums!! 🙂
I’ve never written fanfiction, but I’m kind of tempted to now thanks to your comment. XD 😀

Haha!! That actually sounds like something I would do. I’m just super lazy right now and have no desire to go shopping for decor. 😛

Aww! Thanks! 🙂 You just gave me a little bit of encouragement to keep going. 🙂

      • I love writing fanfiction, which is the main reason why I /don’t/ write fanfiction. I would never get my other books done, and so I would never get closer to my publishing dream. 🙂 But I do a bit of flash-fan-fiction occasionally, just to get flash fiction practice, and my fill of FF.

*eyes dirt on office floor* It’s decorative…going for a natural, outdoor-sy theme!

Seriously – keep at it, girl! I have The Rise of Aredor on my iPad, and it’s on my TBR for 2018. Should be one of the first books I get to, actually (I read by order purchased) I can’t wait to read it!!!

  3. I like the plum replacement for lemons. I think it’s more relevant sometimes. :/

Sounds like you’ve got a lot of projects in the works, and all sound interesting. The mammoth would certainly stand out. 😀

Christmas decorations extend as far as some mini Christmas trees made from wood and glitter. I’m not big with the decorations.

    Happy Christmas! 🙂

    • Hehe! Thanks! I’m thinking I should just start using the plum thing regularly. 😉

I have too many projects in the works, is what I have. 😛 But thanks! I’m still debating on the mammoth, but I’m super tempted to figure out a way to work one in.

I’m not super into decorating either, so that’s why I’m struggling. A mini Christmas tree sounds good. Less decorating. 😛 Merry Christmas to you! ❤

Please leave a comment! I try and reply to all of them. Just keep it clean and relevant to the post. Stay shiny!
