Behind The Scenes Writing Tag!

Howdy!

Allison tagged me for this last month, and so here I am finally doing it! Typical me, waiting forever to do these things. ๐Ÿ™‚

Is there a snack you like to eat while writing?

I think y’all probably already know this one. Goldfish!

What time of day do you usually write?

Kinda whenever I have time. But I find, as with studying, I’m a bit more productive in the evening hours.

Where do you write?

On the couch, at my desk, or basically wherever I can be comfy.

How often do you write a new novel?

Heh. Well, it’s been some time since I’ve finished a novel… I start them more often than I should, hence a semi-large pile of WIPs. But I get ideas for new stories all. the. time.

Do you listen to music while you write?

Yes!! Usually my instrumental soundtrack playlist, or my “inspirational” playlist comprised of TSFH, Audiomachine, Future World Music, etc.

Whatโ€™s your writing utensil? Paper or laptop?

Both? I’m writing the second Faeries of Myrnius book in a notebook right now, but all my other WIPs are in nifty Word documents. I started out with a pen and notebook and I really enjoy writing that way, but there’s no denying how horrendous it is to transfer into the computer.

Do you have a special pre-writing ritual?

Usually extensive bouts of daydreaming to get that upcoming scene planned perfectly in my head. And then that all goes away or I can’t remember as soon as I sit down to write.

What do you do to get into the writing mood?

See above. Daydreaming usually gets me in the mood. Usually I’ve been replaying something in my head so much that I’m dying to get it on paper and out of the way.

What do you always have near the place you write?

My giant mug of water.

Do you have a reward system for word counts?

I don’t do word counts (except for my serial story because I try to get each installment to around 1000 words). At this point in my life, I’m lucky to grab a few minutes to write. When I did Camp NaNo last year, if I got a decent amount of writing done, I’d reward myself with Netflix basically. Or more writing.

Is there anything else about your writing process your readers donโ€™t know?

Um…Besides the smirking when I think I’m hilarious or the maniacal chuckle when planning something, there’s nothing really special about my writing process. ๐Ÿ™‚

Yay! Thanks, Allison, for tagging me!

I think I’m probably supposed to tag people, but, come on, y’all know me by now. ๐Ÿ˜‰ If you want to do this then consider yourself tagged! (Seriously, one of these days I’ll get better about this.)

So, did y’all learn anything about me? ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. We have the same pre-writing ritual! I have to daydream certain scenes before I dive into writing them, but then when I’m actually ready to type I sometimes forget parts of it. ๐Ÿ˜›
I used to enjoy writing by hand, but like you said, it’s such a pain to transfer everything to computer that I just stick with typing now.
