Howdy!
Last Saturday marked one of the biggest milestones in my life. Ever.
I graduated from Physical Therapy school!!
I’m still not sure if it’s sunk in or not. π
My name is now officially Dr. Claire Banschbach, DPT.
And I got to wear a dorky hat. π
It was a crazy day. I was one of the first to walk the stage. Honestly I didn’t hear anything other than “Doctor Claire…” and then I was handing my hood to my program directors so they could hood me and then walking across the stage to take more pictures. It was an insane feeling. After the ceremony ended (2 hours later…) and pictures were taken and congratulations given, we headed back to my sister’s house and had a giant meal and hung out with family. Most of my family left in the early evening to head back home, but I stayed one more night with my sister. So we finished up the evening with some pizza and beer on the back porch and just chilled. It was only then that I teared up a few times and almost cried. I basically was just trying to process everything and it got overwhelming for second.
Graduating from school has been my dream for the last 8 years, ever since I discovered that I wanted to be a PT. It’s been a wild and crazy road full of up and downs. There were several times in school that I didn’t think I’d make it, but I had the support of my amazing family, friends, and classmates, and here I am!
I’m sure it’ll start to sink in when I don’t have to return to class in about 2 weeks for the next summer session. Or when I get a job and start making money instead of being on unpaid clinical rotations. π
So what’s next?

(You knew it was coming)
Well, this summer will be jam-packed with studying for my licensure exam in July. I get to take one week off and go on vacation with my family (something I haven’t really been able to do in several years).
Step two: finding a job. On my last clinical rotation I discovered a love for pediatric PT (kiddos), so that’s where my job finding focus will be!
Other dreams:
- Finally republishing the Aredor series this year! This was definitely not on my to-do list this year, but I think it’s for the best. π Publishing The Wolf Prince this year! I’m in the process of transcribing it into the computer now.
- I get to go to Realm Makers this year! (I leave the day I’ll be finding out my results from the licensure exam, so that will make it a little stressful. π )
- Just getting to write a new book! π I’ve been working on the same 3-ish projects for the last 3 years, so it’ll be awesome to finally get to start something new!
Congratulations!

Dear Dr. Banschbach, congratulations ! This is, as many have told you already, a huge accomplishment and worth getting a little terry eyed over. However, good on you for setting some more goals and continuing to dream. May you be just as successful and then find even new one!

Congratulations, Dr. Banschbach! I’m overjoyed for all your successes and your bright future in the pediatric PT field π I’m glad we’re in the same transitional period from graduate school to professional life!
I moved into my new apartment this past weekend, and will be starting my new job as a LPC-I counselor on Saturday with a private practice here in Dallas. I’m so very stoked!

Also, I’m so excited for the new dreams you’re accomplishing, especially Realm Makers! π I’m unable to go this year, but I am trying hard to go next year. π Right now, I’m accomplishing a dream that I never would have imagined, though it’s super secret for about another month. Hey, Emily! π Thanks for commenting and yay! for taking the time to keep up with my blog! π That makes me happy that you enjoy it.
I have finished draft 1 of The Wolf Prince and am in the process of typing it into the computer. Then I’ll be finding some early readers for it (stay tuned on the blog if you want to sign up) and then in September I have an editor lined up to get after it. So I’m hoping, it’ll be published sometime in November (that’s the game plan anyway)! Thanks for asking!
