Christmas Comes Early…With Books

Christmas tour

Howdy!

So I’m kind of breaking my usual ban against Christmas until Thanksgiving is over. Mainly because of books. πŸ™‚ Today, we’re celebrating the release of not one, not four, but eight new Christmas books! All written by Rebekah A. Morris. I’ll be spotlighting two of her books today and you can find out more about the others as you follow the tour.

About the Books

Christmas Delays

A doctor, called up for duty in the army, spends one more Christmas with his wife in an unexpected way after God’s Christmas delays strand them in a small house with another family.

Peter’s Christmas

Very mild weather might not feel like Christmas, but young, orphaned Peter and his older sister find the peace and love of the season with the Hampton family in spite of the sadness of war.

I’ll be Home for Christmas

Grandpa recounts the memories of his first Christmas away from home during WWII.

Christmas had lost its charm and wonder. Mrs. Rush hated the feeling but was powerless to fix things. Traveling to visit relatives for the holidays, the Rush children pass the time with their eyes glued to the screens of their devices. That is, until the flashing lights of a State Highway Patrol car bring their trip to a sudden and unplanned-for stop.

Interview

Hi, Rebekah! Let’s start off with an important and related question. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the most) how much do you love Christmas? πŸ˜‰

10!!!! (pushing 15. πŸ™‚ )

Haha! It’s one of my favorite holidays as well! Favorite Christmas story growing up?

There were several my mom read my brother, sister and I every year, but my favorite of them all is “The Twenty-four Days Before Christmas” by Madeleine L’Engle. I still love that story and read it myself every year. It just wouldn’t be Christmas without it.

What inspired this wonderful collection of Christmas stories?

I would say it probably came from my love of Christmas stories. Several years ago I decided to try writing a Christmas story. Since then I’ve written at least one, often 2-3 new Christmas stories each year. My original idea was to put them into one book of short stories, but I didn’t really want to do that as then I’d have to wait several more years before I could publish another book. A friend published a small book earier this year and my mind instantly saw the possibilities of publishing my Christmas stories the same way: in small books. (Each of these books is 4×6 inches.) Β  The stories are all different, some are insired by real stories, others just started with an idea. But I’m looking forward to adding to the Christmas Collection in the coming years.

How fun! It looks like most of the stories are historical in some way. Is there any other genre you would like to try?

I have written a Christmas Mystery before, but it was long enough to have chapters, and I published it last year. (It’s called, “The Old Mansion’s Secret.”) I would like to try another mystery, but since I love history, it is easy to set my stories in the past. I do have few modern ones, however. Some of them have a touch of romance. I’m not sure what other genre I’d try since I don’t like sci-fi, fantasy, or things like that.

Ooh, mysteries sound fun! Also, there’s just something really fun about historical Christmas stories. πŸ™‚ What gets you out of bed in the morning to write?

My alarm clock. πŸ™‚ Since I don’t write until late afternoon or evening, getting out of bed doesn’t affect my writing. Unless of couse I just had a brilliant idea for a story! But one thing that does motivate me to keep writing is feedback. When I hear from someone that they were blessed by one of my stories, or that their child loved a book I wrote, I am eager to get back to work on my next book or story.

Haha! Same with the writing in the evening. If you knew you were going to leave behind an unfinished manuscript, what would you do?

Write some notes about the story and pray that someone would finish it. πŸ™‚ And if not, trust that God knows which story shouldn’t be finished.

Love the answer! What fictional character would you have dinner with?

Oh, can I go have dinner with Carol Bird when she has dinner with “the Ruggleses in the Rear”? Please! I would so love to be there.

And one last holiday question – if you could visit any country for the holidays, where would you go and what would you do?

This year it would be a difficult choice. I’d want to go to Canada to visit my best friend and her new Christmas baby (that I’m hoping is a girl!), and enjoy the snow and her two little boys. But . . . If that weren’t an option, I’d head to a small German town to experince the Holiday Market, the huge Christmas tree, the choirs practicing in churches, the taste of the Christmas foods, and probably spend all my money. . . . *sighs*

I would LOVE to go to Germany for Christmas! That just sounds wonderful. πŸ™‚ Thanks for coming over, Rebekah, and best of luck with your Christmas books! πŸ™‚

Thank you for letting me come over and share with your readers.

How much do you love Christmas? Are you already listening to Christmas music, or are you like me and won’t listen to it until Thanksgiving is over? πŸ˜‰

  1. Thank you so much for being a part of my Christmas Blog Tour! You’re interview questions were such fun to answer.
I’m usually like you in that I won’t listen to Christmas music or watch Christmas movies or read Christmas books until Thanksgiving, but last night I was trying to work on writing a Christmas story and I had to listen to just one Christmas song to help me get in the mood. πŸ™‚ But we won’t get our CDs out until after Thanksgiving. Then the music will start!

    • You’re welcome! Happy I could help out!

Well, I guess I’ll forgive you since you were writing a Christmas story… lol! Occasionally I’ll pull up some Christmas music up before Thanksgiving, but otherwise it’s not until a few weeks before Christmas. πŸ™‚ I’m pretty much just a grinch about some things. lol!

      • This year I’ve been longing for after Thanksgiving more than I ever remember and I’m blaming it on getting all these Christmas stories published so early. πŸ™‚
